VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! We are constantly looking out for new volunteers to work in the tearoom for a couple of hours every so often.
Are you able to help please? If tearoom work isn't your scene, how about coming to help in the bookshop for an hour to cover Pauline's lunch time?
Please contact us by telephone (01929 424544 Bookshop or 01929 422563 Tearoom) if you think you can help. Alternatively, you can email the Manager. We look forward to hearing from you.
SWANAGE CHRISTIAN CENTRE UPDATE
At the recent AGM of the Christian Centre concern was expressed that we had insufficient funds to purchase the adjoining building without taking out a bank loan or making renewed appeals when people have already given generously. A few days later we were offered an interest free loan over 5 years by a trust who have helped us in the past, which meant that we could proceed with the purchase confidently. We were thanking God for His gracious provision for our work when we heard that another trust had made us a grant which covered not only the cost of buying the extension but also funds to help pay for modest refurbishment to our premises. We have been overwhelmed with gratitude to God for His goodness to us, but now we must continue the process started last autumn of discerning God's will for the use of the extended premises to witness to His love and concern for this tiny but beautiful corner of His world. More information on this will follow in the autumn. Currently we have a vacancy for someone to work in the kitchen regularly throughout the year on Saturdays and occasionally during the week as well as help over the summer with general kitchen work including manning the dishwasher. Please contact the tea room on 422563 for more information. The centre belongs to all the churches and we thank you for your support of this project whether financial, through volunteering, as a customer or through prayer. It makes such a difference to those working there to know that they have your backing and many of our visitors are impressed by the way all the churches in Swanage and district are working together to make this an effective way to bring the Good News of God's love to our local community and visitors alike. Please continue to support us because we cannot work without your interest and care. Anne Squires
The majority of the bookshop has now been moved downstairs. We have had discussions with Connexions, a government sponsored initiative working with unemployed teenagers, who are interested in using the proposed training room upstairs.
A rough plan of the proposed use of the centre, now that the Tearooms have regretfully been closed, is on view upstairs. Do pop in and have a look and give us your thoughts.
